The small walled enclave of Wolfdun is more ancient than most know. It was an outpost of the green and dark elven empire of Miyeritar that was destroyed in the Dark Disaster, reducing the country to what’s now known as the High Moor. Wolfdun became a hidden forest enclave afterward and south to keep its location and population as quiet as possible. About 1,500 humans, dwarves, gnomes, half-elves, and green elves live together here, but to outsiders, it seems like no more than 200 or so as Wolfdun’s magic and trees hide the true population.

Wolfdun is known for its wood carvings, archers, rangers, wood craftsmanship, and welcoming outsiders (at least to its public enclave). It is also known for the rumors and mystery that surround it.
Notable Wolfdun personalities:
- Mavilis Rall – Chief of Council for Wolfdun – Mavilis is the no-nonsense leader of Wolfdun council. He is in charge of the public enclave village and keeps watch for any trouble coming into the village. The rules of Wolfdun are also his to enforce, and very little tolerance is given to those who break the rules more than once.
- Captain Melanshaee Alasnara – Captain of the Wolfdun guardians, she is a green elf ranger without a match in the forest. She is Mavilis’s right hand and lives in the public enclave. She leads an unknown number of archers, guards, and scouts. She is rarely seen unless there is an emergency or trouble arises. She also trains the new rangers from Wolfdun
- Elvnalli Dallishade – Cleric of Corellon Larethian and leader of the clergy of Wolfdun, she does her best to serve the will of Corellon as he works to bring the long-lost elven empire Miyeritar back into reality. She is the ambassador to the hidden Miyeritari city of Rhymanthiin and helps elves and dwarves reach the city to join its growing ranks.
- Morthil Reyro – Known as the Wolf of Wolfdun, he leads the pack of elves that have the ability to turn into a wolf known as the Lythari. The Wolfdun pack numbers fifty and are supposed to keep a low profile. Morthil and his mate Symania Fenvaris tend to be a little flexible with what is low profile and the pack is responsible for the rumors of werewolves in Neverwinter Forest.
- Almar Xyrcaryn – The elven priest of Solonor Thelandira and high Lythari healer,
- Willow Omawynn – Elven Druid of the Warg Circle of Wolfdun, she and her partner Tara found Balthazar Blackwater near the Lake of Blackest Night northeast of Wolfdun years ago on their farm, now turned a small village outpost for the Warg Circle Druids. They raised him until he was ready to go out on his own when he nicknamed himself Nemo and left the farm to visit the blackened ruins south of the village and north of Wulfdun.

Wolfdun Locations of Interest:
- Wolfdun public Enclave – The public enclave area is on the edge of the Crag’s northwest foothills on the edge of the forest. There is no path to get to Wolfdun, and typically an elven guide can be hired in Port Llast, Oakhurst, or Helm’s Hold for a fee. Merchants will pay this fee as supply runs have proven very profitable. The public enclave is a small, walled, fortified village with watch towers. It looks like 200 citizens live here happily and quietly.
- Wolfdun Tree City – Surrounded by illusions, traps, portals, and magic from ancient high magic, the tree city entrance can only be entered from the back wall section of the public enclave. High in ancient red wood trees and hidden from mortal eyes by the elven gods, elves, dwarves and others live here making arms, crafts, and goods they can trade for supplies from the outside world. In 15,000 years, no one has ever made it to the tree city that wasn’t invited. It is said the same magic that guards Rhymanthiin was first used here.
- The Lake of Blackest Night – A lake that is toxic to touch and black in color no matter what time of year or what is added to it. It radiates a feeling of sorrow and depression that affects anyone who gets within 10’ of the water’s edge. If one touches the water, they could fall into a coma and die as tears flow endlessly from their instantly wide-open eyes. Their mouth is frozen in a silent scream that stays even in death. There is nothing living within 100’ of the lake.
- The Blackened Ruins – An old twisted, burnt, and black stone tower surrounded by burned-out buildings has been found north of Wolfdun. Villagers and rangers are all saying it appeared out of nowhere a month ago, and they’ve never seen it before. The single door and all the windows are boarded up and drip with blood. Every time the moon wanes, the new body is found outside the tower, twisted, broken, and etched with runes no one can understand.
